Download the AMT HECI driver (R194010 - "PCI Simple Communications Controller") and the AMT SOL/LMS driver (R194011 - "PCI Serial Port").Select either Vista 32-bit or 64-bit Operating System (for us, 64-bit) and "Chipset" in the "Category" drop-down list.

Notice at (I made this a "tiny URL" because the other was so huge - I have included it below, just in case - note 1) that it says that the 755 has been " Tested for Windows 7 Functionality" but that we are to " see note below" - which says " If a piece of hardware does not install correctly, you may need to install Vista drivers." (This is what you found out in your attempt.) It also refers us, with a link, to an article to teach us how to install the Vista drivers - but that is not very helpful in that vein. I had to run the installations for the drivers after I hand expanded them to their respective folders. Now, I haven't had an opportunity to test this yet, so I am hoping you will want to have a go at trying this out.

For those of us with Pro or Ultimate, that means that we can install "old", pre-Windows 7 software and, thus, run older installers. Notice at the Microsoft Windows 7 edition comparison site ( ) that one of the features that Home Premium lacks over Pro and Ultimate is "Windows XP Mode". because that is the difference between the Win 7 flavors. you might not be able to accomplish this with your Home Premium installation of Windows 7 (I have Windows 7 Professional installed). I have installed the drivers (Vista 圆4 drivers in R194010 and R194011) just fine and I have cleared the "PCI" devices out of the "Other devices" list with this effort. You having the Home Premium version shouldn't make a difference with the BIOS, so I am hoping if I find something it will benefit both of us - I'll search with that in mind. well they had an older driver yet! I'll keep poking around and keep in touch here. I searched via Google and came up with one of those "driver" websites that proclaims they have drivers for "everything". hope your machine is OK after the exercise.īe forewarned.

I kept poking at all the info provided at the Dell forum and by the end of the workday I was relizing it's not a solution - I have inquiry in there to see what experience people had because there are people saying it "worked!" but when I looked those patches up they are even older than my A10 patch level! So, sorry you headed down that path with my misdirection. Sorry for not getting back on R194010 and R194011. I updated to the A15 BIOS but still I have the conflict with the two PCI devices, as you also list here. My BIOS before my work yesterday was at A10. My machine is an Optiplex 755 is a Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz - I have installed Windows 7 Professional
(I am verifying that the Vista drivers work for those of us in Windows 7 land - the posters at the Dell Community forum seemed to be indicating so.) Take a look at the "Compatibility" section - there we are, OptiPlex 755! And yes, they are for Vista, but they work for Windows 7, too - at least they have been reported to have worked for the posters at the Dell forum referenced above.
